Drumming in the Figueroa Mountains!

Here are photos of our last Hidden Wings drumming session in the Figueroa Mountains.

The session featured a Table Drum, hand made by Remo Belli, and didgeridoos made by local craftsman Zach Tullis-Thompson and painted by Hidden Wings students.

It was a great day. When we began hiking up the mountains, one of the students blew the didgeridoo and the cattle started to follow us. Nothing like having companions!

We thank our artists Remo Belli and Zach Tullis-Thompson, and we especially thank Amy May for capturing these moments with her beautiful photos!

Hidden Wings Student Crowned Homecoming King!

A Hidden Wings student and senior at Santa Ynez High School was voted Homecoming King by his fellow students. The roar of applause at the announcement showed the enthusiasm of the student body. The student himself said, "I have come a long way..."

The student was given an award that had never been given before:  most inspirational player. Said the water polo coach, "He [the Hidden Wings student] is the most popular player I have ever seen. He not only knows the names of all his team mates, but most of the players on the other teams as well. His enthusiasm inspires all of us."

Featured Teacher:  Robb Kennedy

Robb Kennedy is the second in command at Hidden Wings. Robb has responsibility for the overall physical fitness of all students, and he is Jim's 'right hand man' in all major decisions.

Robb has a tremendous background. He handles stress well; he is in charge of all Hazardous Materials shipped by Fed Ex from Santa Barbara. He is a water polo coach, triathlete, member of ocean search and rescue, and an Oceanside Peace Officer for the state of California.

Given these facts, one can understand why all Hidden Wings students are physically fit and always challenged to go to 'the next level'. Students love Robb, and he loves them. He is a lifetime resident of Solvang, married, with two children.

The photos below feature Robb leading oceangoing kayaking; he also leads swimming, stretching, rope pulls, beach cleanups, and safety training. Robb has an unquenchable, positive spirit, which is felt by everyone at Hidden Wings. Robb is one in a million!
